A quiet loop around Kinder Scout
A slow morning on the Peak District's highest plateau — bog, grit and a very good coffee at the end.

The car park was almost empty when I set off. Mist sat low on the moor and the path up towards Jacob's Ladder was quieter than I'd ever seen it.
Kinder is not a dramatic mountain by British standards, but there is something about the plateau — the peat channels, the endless sky — that always slows me down.
I took the long way back through Edale, stopped for a coffee, and drove home with muddy boots and that particular kind of tired that only a good walk gives you.
